A linchpin is somebody indispensable; a person the organisation can’t live without. They’re not a replaceable cog, nor do they have to be a lemonlight-drenched superstar, but some wizard among the many.
According to Seth Godin (a linchpin himself), there are 7 ways to become one, and one of them is ‘delivering unique creativity’. Perhaps it’s an interesting insight, or a mundane task done whimsically well. It’s also hard to do: a) you need to have that special insight, and b) you need the courage to do it.
