Some people I know want to holiday next June. It's an adventure holiday, and will end up costing ~£1k.
I know because I went earlier this year.
It would be fun, with lots of alcohol, no doubt. Last time was. A whole week of it, too(!).
I said no.
That week will end, rapidly, and £1k can see much better use elsewhere: helping someone else, for example. How could you change one or several lives with that money?
I'm not that emotionally advanced (yet), so I plan to spend the equivalent on me: buy a van. And not 'just a van' — a van I can make a home, drive across countries and experience the world with for longer than a week.
Optimise for fulfilment, not fun.
