In the 1960's Ferrari was in a spot of financial trouble. So, helpful as ever, Ford came along and offered Enzo Ferrari a tidy sum.
However, when the final meeting came along, Enzo found a clause in the contract that would take away his control of the company. Furious, he simply walked out of the room.
That lead to a racing rivalry that would last for years: Ford tried relentlessly to best Ferrari in the 24 hour race of Le Mans that they had dominated for years. Failure after failure after failure… Until, in 1966, Ford took a 1-2-3 victory with its GT40.
