It turns out recycling is (mostly) a fallacy. If only one could put used paper in a machine, something harmless happens and out pops brand new paper. Unfortunately paper isn’t designed for that. Nor are plastic bottles, plates, cars, chairs… anything, really.
How about this: old paper goes into a machine, then chemicals, wood pulp and even toxic inks are added and voila: recycled paper! This ‘recycled’ paper is also rougher than the virgin stuff, meaning more particles released into the air.
Newspapers are often made from recycled paper. Go figure.
